Welcome to Nature's
Playground
Inspiring curiosity, creativity and confidence through forest school adventures and outdoor learning in the heart of Devon.
About Us
Founded in 2005, A Touch of the Wild is Exeter’s longest-running forest school, set in a private woodland at Grammarcombe Woods. We believe that childhood should be rooted in nature, curiosity and play.
Our qualified early years staff and Forest School leaders create magical learning experiences outdoors, from den-building and campfire cooking to stories, songs and seasonal crafts.
Over the years, hundreds of Devon families have discovered the joy of forest school life with us, growing confidence, creativity and muddy smiles along the way.

What Our Parents Say
"We had a fab party for my son’s birthday party. Flo and Tallum were great host and happy to help/provide things the kiddies were asking for. The place itself is great for any kiddie that loves the outdoors as it gives them lots of learning through play opportunities. Snacks/drinks were readily available throughout the whole party and sausages, marshmallows and hot chocolate were served by the fire. I will definitely be recommending this place to others and will also be using their services again for parties in the future."

“We have loved our first spring term at A Touch of the Wild. Lots of activities for the Wild Tots to get involved in, tree house deck, mud kitchen, swings, chalk play, tuff tray changing activities and weekly cooking activity with some woodland crafts. Both Katy and Kim work great as a team! Thank you for your hard work and always making us feel welcome :)”
